Vivian came to Northeast Denver Housing Center at the end of November 2012 and was very frustrated with her mortgage servicer. Vivian was trying to get help with her defaulted mortgage. During the late spring and early summer she had one disaster after another.
First her older car broke down. Then, she missed her first payment in order to repair her car. Soon after in May, she had to pay to have her roof patched since her insurance would not cover the damage. Lastly, in June, her hot water heater went out. Then her servicer stop taking late payments and she now found herself 3 months behind.
We helped her get in touch with the servicer who sent her the HAMP application forms and we assisted her to complete these forms. However, at this time the NED was filed and she received the 90 day deferment notice. We started the process of qualifying her for the deferment program.
In January as she was getting her funds together for the deferment program, her servicer suddenly offered her a loan modification without a trial payment which she quickly accepted it.
