The Clermont Residence

|
The Clermont project is a single-family home built on a site where the previous house had burned down. The 1500 square foot, three-bedroom home was designed to fit well with the existing neighborhoodarchitecture as well as being energy efficient (well insulated, donated solar panels) and built green (environmentally friendly building materials such as recycled pop bottle carpet and low V.O.C. paint). The average heating bill for this home is estimated at $150 per year whereas an average utility bill for this size would be about $1000 per year. This home was sold as part of NDHC's affordable homeownership program to a four person family making less than 80% of the Denver area median income. The Clermont Residence has received the Homebuilderπs Association award for Built Green Home of the Year as well as the National Renewable Energy award for affordable housing. This project was completed in 1999.
