Free Blood Lead Testing Events

|
NDHC's Lead-Safe Denver program sponsors and organizes events where children living in Denver's high risk neighborhoods can be tested for lead poisoning for free. These events are scheduled from May through October, which are the times when children are most susceptible to lead exposure. The blood lead test consists of a simple finger prick to obtain a few drops of blood. The results are usually available within 2 weeks. If the child's blood lead level is elevated, the state health department will follow-up with appropriate recommendations. Usually, a follow-up test is recommended. If your child's blood lead level is confirmed to be elevated, you may qualify for home renovation services to fix problems in the home that may be exposing your child to lead.
